SIA Acoustics Wins Prestigious British Airways 'Face-to-Face' Award
Friday, February 5, 2010 at 5:24PM SIA Acoustics, LLC is proud to announce that partner Steve Sockey will receive a British Airways 'Face-to-Face' award. His selection was based on a written essay describing the benefits of human connections for the company and its clients.
Mr. Sockey will travel to India accompanied by SIA Acoustics consultant Aditya Balani.
British Airways commissioned a survey of Harvard Business Review readers to gauge perceptions within the international business community about the importance of face-to-face meetings. In a time when business travel has been greatly reduced, the study aimed to uncover the impact that such restrictions have had on business growth and building long-term relationships. "Face-to-Face" by British Airways then invited U.S. business people to make their case for an unmet business travel need and win free travel to London, or anywhere in the world that British Airways flies, to attend a crucial meeting.
The SIA Acoustics team will depart in September, attending workshops in London before continuing to Mumbai with partner Sam Berkow. While in India, SIA Acoustics will conduct a technical workshop to demonstrate the impact of amplified sound in a functioning performance or recording environment. In partnership with local equipment vendors and architects, the workshop will seek to highlight the essential role of acoustics in the construction and renovation of facilities where sound is critical. Due to Bollywood's proliferation of Hollywood-level studio centers, theaters, and performance venues, the demand for better-sounding facilities is ever-growing.
Steve Sockey, commenting on the trip, stated, "We're very eager to explore the possibilities [in India]. The opportunity presented by British Airways greatly helps us to push forward in the exploration of international markets at a time when many are pulling back."
Winners of the British Airways program were selected by a panel of advisors, including Brad Gelfond, SVP, Brand & Content Partnerships, Warner Bros. Music; Reid Hoffman, Founder & Executive Chairman, LinkedIn; Robert Lipp, Senior Advisor, Brysam Global Partners (Former Chairman, JPMorganChase); Frank Radice, President & CMO, National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences; and Charles Seely, Advisor to UK Government, Global Entrepreneurs Programme. SIA Acoustics is pleased to share the British Airways vision of forging new relationships in the international community.
